The Site Redesign is Done!

By on March 18, 2007

Well, it took me longer than expected, but I’m proud to say that the snazzy new design that you are looking at is finally complete!

Since I just finished it at 2:00am here on the east coast of the U.S., I didn’t have time to beat the crap out of it to make 100% sure that everything is absolutely perfect, but I’m pretty sure that I worked out all of the kinks.

Edward over at Evolving Times was kind enough to let me know that there is a small glitch with the search functionality, and I did look into that.

The search is working, but when you click on the results, WordPress is tossing up some funky code that is beyond my present mental state to re-engineer. MANY thanks to Edward for letting me, however, and I promise to get it fixed soon.

However, on that note, I want to let everyone know that I will be out of the loop for the next few days while I take a family trip.

I will do my best to check in from the road, but if I don’t get the chance to do that, I will play catch up on email as well as comment moderation as soon as I get back.

In the meantime, please enjoy the new look, and also please let me know your thoughts!

Leave a comment or send me an email about what you like/don’t like, any glitches that you find, etc.

Also, if you are looking for a new design for your own blog, be sure to show the love to Bartleme Design who masterminded the shell that I used for this site, and to iLemoned, who converted it to a WordPress theme.

Okay, that’s it for me. Stay empowered and happy as I take a few days off, and thank you, as always, for being a reader of this blog.

If it weren’t for you, this site wouldn’t exist!

Happy Trails!  Smile

    Like the new re-design.
Just a suggestion: What about a list of popular posts or best posts?

    Sham,

That is a great idea! Now that you mention it, I’m surprised it wasn’t already on my list to put into the navigation.

I’m off to hit the road, but I will definitely implement that when I get back.

Glad you like the design, and thanks for the feedback!

    Viji & Moltar – thanks a bunch!

I’m doing a total “drive by” on my commenting before we head out of the hotel this morning, and I appreciate everyone’s comments. It’s a great start to the day!

    Dan & Jennifer,

I know you guys left me a great quote, but apparently I haven’t had enough coffee, because I think I just accidentally deleted it – Whoops!

Thanks for your feedback just the same, and if I can pass along the recommendation that you had in your comment to everyone else, Dan & Jennifer pointed out that Alan Cohen has an inspirational quote of the day that you can check out at https://www.alancohen.com/.

And now, before I click anything else the wrong way, I’m shutting down this computer and heading out to spend the day with the family.

Have a great start to the week, everyone!

Love the new look, Aaron! It’s much easier getting around the site now. Great job!

I think your new site design looks much better than the last one. (I took a quick peak yesterday afternoon via a friend of a friend of a friend)

Ok, now maybe you can answer my little XML problem that I am having over on my end of the blogosphere.

You know, I almost couldn’t find the comment section because I’m not used to noticing them up by the title of the post. I kinda like it like that – it’s gonna take some getting used to – but it’s really nice that way.

Thanks, Edward – I appreciate your input!

Now that I am back from my trip I am tweaking a few things here and there, and I think they are all positive changes.

Also, I took Sham’s advice and added in a list for Most Popular posts. It’s a brand-new plug in, so we’ll see how that list levels out.

In the meantime, why am I not surprised to see that the post about Antonella Barba and Captain America has already made the popular list? ;)

    Angela,

Thank you so much for your thoughts on the new design!

I fell in love with it when I first saw it, but my readers need to like it, too, and so far it looks like everyone does.

The new design took me awhile to get used to as well. I felt silly at first because I couldn’t find my way around my own blog!

As far as XML, I wish I could help you out, but I never did quite get my head completely around that whole concept.

I will probably need to eventually, though, and if so, I’m coming straight to YOU for help! ;)

I like the new design, Aaron. Much more comfortable to look at. And, big plus, it’s easier to comment.

    Rick,

I appreciate your input! I have spent several quality hours here on the site since the new design went into place, and the more I see it, the more I like it.

Thanks for checking it out and putting in your 2 cents!
