This is a last-minute announcement, since I just found out about it myself, but it’s worth you taking the time to check out.
Would you be willing to give an hour of your time if it meant being a part of something actually worth being a part of?
When someone asks you what you are doing at 8:00pm this Saturday night, say that you are doing your part to save humanity from it’s own short-sightedness. When that peaks their interest, then just send ’em right here:
99% of you reading this (myself included) did your part to help create this problem, so how about doing your part to help fix it?
Many thanks to PDP Senior Thought Leaders Thea Westra and Shauna Arthurs who brought this to my attention in this thread at Personal Development Partners.
I’ll be sitting around my house bathed in candlelight at 8:00pm this Saturday. What about you?

I just posted a post about it too…I’ll be there with you.
That’s awesome, Adam! Thanks for helping to spread the word, and let’s enjoy the electricity downtime! 🙂
We did our part. My husband, son and myself opted out from TV and all lights went off in the house. We put on some candles. We all climbed into our bed and read a book about the universe with a big torch shining for light. Well… I read and they fell off to sleep. When I woke this morning I told my son that I knew more about Jupiter than he did because I continued reading as they snored. He then proceeded to tell me all the things he knew about Jupiter, which was very interesting. We’ve decided it is something we will do more regularly, maybe monthly or even more. We get to help the planet and have quality time together. I think we need to move the time slot earlier though… to avoid them dropping off to sleep.
Thanks for sharing this with your readers, Aaron.
Kim,
That’s awesome that you took part, and then turned it into quality family time as well!
We followed a similar pattern, including talking about doing it regularly. We found out that it was pretty easy to turn off all of the electricity in the house, and even enjoyable to spend time in a different environment.
Thanks for participating, Kim, and for sharing your experiences! 🙂
