There is an old saying that “no man is an island,” and I have found over the years that rarely can a man or woman accomplish anything of note without some help from other people.
Those other people may be friends, family members, teachers, spouses, business partners, customers, employees, etc., but at some point, others always need to enter into the mix.
As I am coming up on my birthday on the 14th, I was giving some serious thought to how I wanted to celebrate the day. I’m always up for a good party, and this year will probably be no exception. However, this year I’ve also started to give some serious thought to how I can give back on my birthday.
I played around with ideas like going downtown to feed the homeless, selling all of my products for half price, or maybe just spending the entire day Stumbling or Digging other people’s blog posts in order to help them get free traffic to their websites.
Well, all of those ideas had merit, but at the same time, they were all temporary, and I was looking for something with a bit more of a long-term benefit. It occurred to me that here at the beginning of the New Year, many people are giving thought to the upcoming 12 months, and putting plans in place to make 2008 what others are already calling 200-GREAT!
Now that idea appealed to me – doing something that would help other people to have a successful YEAR, rather than just one day of benefits from my birthday efforts. As I often coach other people to do, I re-framed it into a question:
How can I help people during the entire year of 2008?
The immediate answer that came to mind was to do whatever it was that each individual person could benefit the most from over the long-term. Since there are people from all walks of life hanging around the hallowed halls here at Today is that Day, I had to find a way to break it down into something more easily digested than “help everyone to do everything”.
Thus, I give you this, my official offer to step into your corner and do whatever I can to make 2008 the best year that you have ever had!
Self Improvement Seekers and Personal Growth Junkies
I can’t give away my products for free (mouths to feed and all that), but I can make my products as affordable and as effective as possible.
- Affordable – My products range in price from $12 to $37 each, but 3 out of 4 of them are part of the membership over at Personal Development Partners, and that only costs 20 bucks for a 6-month membership.ย
- Effective – Reading an eBook will get you nowhere if you don’t do what the book tells you to do. From this point forward, I am offering unlimited one-on-one coaching to any PDP member who wants detailed instructions on how to get the most out of of Mental Meltdown, How to Invoke the Law of Attraction, or The Definitive Weight Loss Guide to Body Weight Exercises.
Whether your goals are to become rich and famous, find the soul mate of your dreams, or to lose a bunch of weight, I’ll be the coach in your corner. If you don’t see the value in that, I invite you right now to go check out the hourly rates of life coaches, and then compare that to $20.
I’ll be right here when you get back. ๐ย
Business/Website Owners
If you have a business and/or a website, chances are that you want your business to be successful, and you want to get visitors to your website. Well, I’m a business owner and a website owner myself, and I know that I want success, so here’s a novel idea:
Let’s help each other out!
It’s no-brainer stuff, really, but it is also true that small business owners and website owners often get so caught up in what they are doing that they don’t give enough effort to helping others for the mutual benefit of both parties.ย
There are plenty of ways that people can help each other out, and I am actively seeking partners for all of the following activities during 2008:
- Joint Ventures – What can we work together on? Newsletters, teleconferences, eBooks & information products, audio/video productions, sharing of materials and resources, and whatever else we can come up with.
- Social Networking – If you’ve got a website and you aren’t actively using Stumbleupon, Digg, and similar sites to get quality content in front of a larger audience, believe me when I say that you are missing the boat! We can each help each other out, and it doesn’t cost a dime.
- Sharing Skills – What can you do? I can do plenty of cool stuff! I can make decent web graphics, I know the basics of HTML and CSS web design, I’m fairly proficient with WordPress and the blogosphere overall, I know about affiliate marketing and advertising techniques, I can speak about self improvement even more effectively than I write about it, and, despite being “retired” from the practice, I’m still proficient in the health and fitness arts. If you can do “x” and I can do “y” and there is a need for x and y to be put together, let’s do that!
In short, I want what I want, and in order to get it, I’m willing to help you get what YOU want. Whether you are just looking for ways to improve your life, or if you want to practice the power of the mastermind on business/website ventures, I am officially open for business.
How can I help YOU? Email me or drop a comment below!
I am new to your blog…found it on New Year’s Eve…while searching for other creative people with successful blogs on personal development, creativity, and blog success. I am an artist among many other things…I have had a painting a day blog for just over a year now. I get about 50 hits a day…I have had minimal success with selling artwork from my site and small exhibitions…but now looking to branch my website out further…as have many talents…want to include artwork, videography…personal creativity coaching…seminars…writing…and looking for all the help I can get.
Looking foward to reading your other posts…maybe even hiring you as wonder coach.
Peace,
Christine
Hi, Christine!
I checked out your site and I love how you explain each painting and the concepts that surround it. That gives your blog posts value, and value is what people respond to in the social networking circles. Very cool stuff, Christine.
I’ll drop you a message using the contact form on your site to see what you’ve got in mind. Keep an eye out for it! ๐
Hi Aaron,
I’ve been busy with my own blog and doing more Art, is good to have found you again. Really enjoy your writing. Wish you were here in California to hang out with !
I have trained on and off, mostly on for 30 + years, and have been involved in my own self improvement since high school, so I feel like I have a good buddy in you.
A friend shared a book with me, “The Forty Day Plan”. I t really fits for me. I sum it up with this, Love = Abundance. I am wondering if you would take a look, and if it rings bells with you, to help me with passing it and it’s concepts on to others.
This is my latest post, I am doing the forty days and writing about my insights each day.

I feel that the more we connect up with our core reality, the happier we are, from the inside out.
Would love to hear your comments.

Hey, Greg!
Great to hear from you, and congratulations on your 40-day journey! I have talked many times about how really sticking to any plan for 30-60 days will net measurable results, and then those results build confidence to keep going on that successful path.
So many times the very lives that we are trying to improve get in the way of our self improvement efforts – a classic irony if ever there was one!
I checked out your site and the pics that you have on your original blog post about the plan – inspiring stuff.
I already have a 2 books on my desk in the “to be read and reviewed” pile, and I just got another one sent out to me today, so my book reading time is pretty full at the moment. However, I certainly welcome anyone reading this to check out your site, though, and get the details on the 40-day plan.
Also, since you are a member over at PDP, feel free to start a discussion over there about the project as well. That is one of the reasons I created that site, so that we could all discuss our self improvement and personal development efforts. ๐
Thank you Aaron !
I have two books recommended to me too, and picked up a third one when getting them. I am excited about all the new things I am learning !
At a Law of Attraction meeting I go to, one of the speakers replied to a person who said they had been to an NLP training once already…When you exercise, do you just go to the gym once ?
I had to laugh, that is such a great and simple explanation !
All the Best My Friend !!!******
Aaron… you are amazing. You offer so much and yet ask so little. Thank you for everything you’ve taught me already!
I’m going to take this offer pretty darn seriously, and drop you an email when I’m sure I’m not going to be just going off half-cocked! I tend to “ready-fire-aim” a lot, but I want to seriously consider what I have to offer *you*.
Hi Aaron,
Thanks for the great offer for help. Indeed, no man is an island. There are so many things for everybody to learn. Everybody have different interest and live life differently.
FYI, due to tight schedule, I have been spending less time blogging. Anyway, I do enjoy and learn a great deal in blogging and had met lots of people like you.
I had plenty of stuff to get myself busy. I just need to used whatever I had acquired.
One problem I had encountered is my post won’t get updated by technorati unless I keep bugging for their support which I don’t know why. Do you have any idea?
Blessings to you, Aaron

That’s a pretty generous offer you’re giving Aaron! Also like the 200-GREAT (2008) theme. I have a feeling you’ll be trying to figure out how to pick from the different requests I predict you’ll be getting.
Lyman,
We’ve been blogging together for a long time, and I respect your thoughts and your ideas a great deal. Whenever you want to do something together, just give me a shout and we’ll make it happen! ๐
Hey, Sam! ๐
Technorati can be very “buggy” and I don’t think anyone understands exactly how their system works. I’ve sent them messages that got acted on quickly, and I’ve also sent them messages that didn’t seem to accomplish much of anything.
My best advice is to just always follow the basic SEO techniques; keywords at the top of the post and in the text, bold and/or hyperlinking keywords, keywords in the title of the post, etc.
Keywords, keywords, keywords!
Also, I have a “catch-all” blog that is hosted on Google’s blogspot domain that I use to point to posts here and over at Fitness Destinations. Since blogspot is a Google product, putting summaries and links to my posts on that blog helps to ensure that my pages are all indexed by Google. Here is the link if you want to see what I mean:

Thanks, Al!
Like I said in the post, I really wanted to find ways to help other people to attain their goals. After thinking on it, I figured the best way to do that was to just tell people that I was willing! ๐
Hi Aaron!
What a generous offer. My email to you is on its way.
Happy birthday and successful 2008.
Yours John
Great post idea Aaron! I’m all for working together with people to promote ideas even further. I’m joined up on digg because of this as well so we’ll see you and your posts over there as well!
Smart idea. Thanks for the wisdom… Stumble Upon is truly amazing!
John,
Much obliged for the birthday wishes! ๐
I’ve got some time allotted later this afternoon to tend to several dozen emails that have come in over the past 24 hours, so look for a response then!
Mike,
Sounds great! I’ve got you added as a mutual friend on Digg, and I use their shout function frequently to send out posts, and to receive shouts from others. I’ll keep an eye out for any links you send my way!
Etavitom,
Yes, Stumbleupon totally rocks, and I’ve been using it several times a day for almost a year now. It’s a great way for people to discover content that they are interested in.
If anyone wants to add me to their Stumbleupon buddy list to exchange vote requests, here is my voting page there:

Thanks for the advice, Aaron.
Have a great day.
Best Wishes

Hi Aaron,
What a great offer! I can’t possibly turn this down.
Happy Birthday btw.

Steve,
Much obliged for the birthday wishes!
I’ll look forward to receiving your note to see what you have in mind. I’ve had so many great ideas and suggestions already since I first put up this post – looking forward to hearing yours!
Aaron – I’m with you! Looking forward to really making 2008 greater than any other! I’ll be reaching out so we can help each other, and I hope you’ll do the same!
Phil,
Absolutely! I read your post talking about similar concepts to this one, and you are definitely on my list to Make it Great with this year!
Great idea! I’m looking forward to working with you this year. I believe that every step we take this year will be a step of increase. We’ll look back to this point in amazement at how much we were able to accomplish is such a short period of time.
