Did you ever get in your OWN way? You know – those times when no matter how hard you try, everything goes south, and at the end of the day, you look back and realize that a large portion of it was your own fault?
Yeah, I hate those days. And I used to have them all the time. Until I learned about the Law of Attraction, that is.
Basically what happens with the Law of Attraction is that by the nature of your thoughts and your feelings, you attract into your life those very things, or things very similar. So, if you feel like you’re having a bad day, guess what? You’re right! And you are the catalyst for the entire process.
The good news is that just like you are the spark that lights the fire of those bad days, you are also the fire extinguisher that can put them out! It is done by your own conscious awareness of your state of mind. Your ability to decide to think and feel things that will be of benefit to you is available every single minute of every single day for your entire time here on Earth.
There are circumstances – that I encourage wholeheartedly – when you can use the power of the Law of Attraction to bring large amounts of happiness and success into your life. I strongly urge you to read some of my articles on the Law of Attraction in order to do exactly that. However, this post isn’t about attaining long-term success, but rather about how to use the Law of Attraction to handle the day to day trials and tribulations that we all have to deal with.
Here is a situation that I recently experienced where the Law of Attraction came to my rescue. I’m sure you will recognize where this same type of situation could happen to you, or maybe already has:
Awhile back I had made a commitment to someone to do some work for them, although the individual in question took quite a bit longer than I had expected before she was ready for me to actually jump in and help.
The day she finally called me to say she was ready, I was totally swamped. I was knee-deep in about half a dozen separate projects, and all of them were at the point where I was about out of time to finish them in anything remotely resembling the timeline I had available.
I do a lot of technical work on my websites and my products, and the work can be exceedingly time consuming if something doesn’t go as expected, which is what had happened with me previous to her phone call.
So, when this person called and said she was ready to get started, my first instinct was to freak out! I would be lucky to finish the things already on my task list, let alone throwing another project in there.
However, I am a man of honor and a very ethical business owner, so when this person called, I knew that by my own moral code that I had no choice but to help her. Luckily, when she first called I wasn’t able to answer the phone, so I got the message via voicemail. The buffer of time that technology sometimes allows us can be a very good thing.
After listening to her message and finding out that my small amount of time was going to dwindle even further now, I started to have a negative reaction to that. Frustration, anxiety, nervousness, etc. – these are all negative emotions. Negative emotions create magnetically charged frequencies that will – based on the Law of Attraction – attract more negativity.
So I stopped and thought about the situation for a minute, and I had 2 potential ways to look at it:
1) I don’t have time for this! I’m already swamped, this person should have been ready when she originally said she was going to be, and it’s not MY fault that she chose this particular day to call me!
Frustration. Anger. Anxiety. Guilt. Negative. Negative. Negative. Negative.
2) I’ve got a lot going on, but I know how excited she is about me helping her with this project. She is really looking forward to finishing this up, and she is going to be in a much better position to improve her life and to help the people around her once this project is done. I remember how excited she was when we talked about doing this together, and she is looking forward to having this project done so she can be proud of it, and take advantage of what it represents to her.
Charity. Pride. Understanding. Accomplishment. Positive. Positive. Positive. Positive.
Even though I was busy, I chose to open Door #2, Monty. And get smacked right in the face with the Law of Attraction!
I called her up after having thought all of those positive things, I was ready to help her, and I knew that one way or another by taking the high road, things would work out, and they did.
It turns out that even though she was ready to get started, there were still some preliminary things that she had to finish before I could jump in with both feet, and she didn’t really need that much of my time that day, or the next day. In fact, based on the discussion that her and I had about the project previously, she had done almost all of the “leg” work, and what I actually had to do turned out to take less than half the time that it was supposed to.
On top of all of that, she is so happy with the work that I did for her that she is going out of her way to do everything that she can possibly do before calling on me to lend a hand.
She is very grateful to me (one of the most powerful positive emotions), she is sharing my work with others who are very complimentary, and she has me feeling so good about the work that I find it hard to believe I ever even considered having a negative thought about the whole thing!
As of the writing of this post, her project is almost 100% done, and I am actually more caught up on the tasks on my to-do list than I have been in a very long time.
Coincidence? Luck?
Hardly.
This is exactly how the Law of Attraction works! I am so grateful to be able to share a story like this with you because I think that it helps to clarify some of the confusion about the Law of Attraction.
People who have heard of it but don’t really understand it tend to think that things are quite a bit more literal than they really are. Yes, the Law of Attraction can – and will – attract very specific things into your life over the long-term.
However, you don’t sit back, think about a brand new car, an instant cure for your allergies, and teenagers who are model citizens, and then expect those things to come waltzing through your door 5 minutes later. It doesn’t work that way.
As I said earlier, the Law of Attraction will attract similar frequencies to what you think and feel about, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will understand the path that the universe will take to grant your wish until it is granted!
In my case, it started out as a schedule that was already too full and then got added to with this individual’s request, and I was in a position to have a serious problem on my hands.
By simply reacting in a positive manner rather than a negative manner, not only did I honor my obligation to her, but I ended up more ahead of the game than I have been in months.
All of that by simply going Positive instead of Negative. No money was spent, no classes were taken, no counselors, swamis, or business coaches were consulted. There was no prayer involved (although there is nothing wrong with that), there was no destroying 2 days in my calendar and rebuilding them from scratch with a “new and improved” plan of action, and there was certainly no anxiety-induced panic attack.
I simple decided. I am going to have a positive reaction to this situation.
That’s it, that’s all. The Universal Law of Attraction took care of the rest.
Now that’s what I call service.
I implore you – take advantage of the Law of Attraction at every available opportunity. You have absolutely nothing to lose, but everything to gain!
I LOVED your story! And I’ve been trying to put your words to good use. Having 2 teenagers, 2 jobs, an ex-husband (not to mention his wife who doesn’t like me AT ALL), and a new-ish husband…well, the opportunities to turn a negative into a positive seem to come knocking almost daily! : ) Practice makes better, right!?
Thanks again, Aaron!
