Welcome to the 9th edition of the Doing it Differently Blog Carnival!
This carnival is dedicated to the concept of stepping outside of the box and living our lives in ways beyond the “norm”!
Whether you want to learn unique ways to think or act differently, or if you want to share your own unique ideas, this carnival is for you!
There will be a new edition of the carnival posted every two weeks, on the 1st and the 15th of every month. You can click here to learn more, or click here to submit a post for the next edition, which will be posted on September 1, 2007.
If you like this carnival or if you are one of the authors featured in this edition and you want to help your post to be seen by as many people as possible, be sure to add this post to Stumbleupon, Digg, or your favorite social bookmarking site!
In this edition, there is plenty of great information about saving the environment, self improvement, personal growth, writing, creativity, weight loss, and more! Enjoy!
1) INNside Innkeeping brings us a story of changing focus that many people will recognize the wisdom in. As a bonus, there’s a recipe for whole grain banana muffins! Check out Slow Down to Go Faster.
2) In the post It’s Not Easy Being Green…, ask the Career Counselor addresses not only the alternative lifestyle of “going green,” but also how to wrap one skill around a passion that is seemingly unrelated.
3) Realigned Living brings us 2 Useful Tips for Improving Creativity, and neither one of them requires an actual natural creative ability.
4) In another great post about helping the environment, be sure to check out Eco Friendly School Days over at the Natural Family Living Blog. You won’t believe some of the things that are used to make valuable and eco-friendly products!
5) Over at The Tall Poppy, the post Reach for the Sky is a story about cows, seagulls, and dolphins that reminds us not to be limited by what other people say and think.
6) Check out Adversity University to find a list of 20 Ways of Looking at Life from a Different Perspective, including some recognized truths about life, as well as some different ways of looking at our experiences.
7) At The Health and Life Mixing Bowl, the post Awakening the Giant Within: Losing Weight with a Life Coach posits the fact that getting a coach may be a different and successful strategy because a coach helps you to see why you do things, rather than just addressing the fact that you do them.
8) In the post Your Passion as Your Compass, Tupelo Kenyon offers some some unique questions to ask yourself to determine what your passions are. Definitely worth a read!
9) TV Geekery brings us The Free TV List: 100 Places to Watch Television Online, and there are certainly a lot to choose from. Considering the shrinking size of computers, a list like this might help you to get your TV addiction off of the couch!
10) In our 3rd installment about eco-friendly living, be sure to check out the Frugal Panda for a very thorough explanation of How to Save Money with Xeriscaping. You’ll have to check out the post if you want to know what Xeriscaping is!
11) Over at EverydayChange, the post Build your right-brain playground is a good bit on the fact that just because it is normal in today’s society to use our left-brain frequently, that does not necessarily mean that we should.
12) Along the same lines as right-brain vs. left-brain thinking, the post Seven powerful ways how the Alchemist can change your life focuses on success concepts, rather than hard and fast facts that may or may not actually be useful.
13) At the Arun is Bringing You…Your Daily Remedy blog, the post Compete For Success puts up the unique idea of succeeding simply by virtue of not wanting to lose!
14) If you are into saving money on gas, check out the post Cheaper Than Cheap Tip Of The Week #2 – Hypermiling over at The Happy Rock. Apparently, saving money on gas is becoming a sport!
15) The post Writing Story Turns For Your Screenplay over at The Rule of 5 offers up a unique system similar to mind-mapping that is guaranteed to keep the creative juices flowing.
16) At The Philosophy of Change, a couple of great suggestions are offered for doing affirmations differently than most people do them. Be sure to check out the post Bart Simpson Hates Writing Affirmations.
17) Ready to be rich, but think you need some miraculous set of circumstances? Check out Edith Yeung’s list of simple concepts that made people radically wealthy in the post The Money Series – Why Didn’t I Think of That Billionaires.
18) Never one to mince words, the outspoken Craig Harper brings us the post Weight-Loss Bullshit. In the wisdom-filled post, he points out the very real fact that weight loss has to happen in your head if you want it to happen on your body!
19) For both tried and true, as well as unique points of view that are powered by real-world experience, check out Marc and Angel’s post Here in the Real World: 20 Lessons for Life.
20) At the FitBuff Total Mind and Body Fitness Blog, we revisit a very unique (and apparently successful) concept in the post I Can S
tand My Stand Up Desk.

Nice blog carnival. The explanations and comments you include with each article is great. I look forward to your carnival and to future posts. Many thanks.
Career Counselor,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! There are a lot of blog carnivals out there, and I want mine to have value for the authors as well as the readers, so I read each entry and include a synopsis. It takes longer, but it’s a win/win for the authors and the readers, so I’m glad to do it. 🙂
