More Noteworthy News and Simply Successful Secrets Updates!

By on May 11, 2007

It has been a busy week here at Today is that Day, and next week is already shaping up to be even busier! However, in the midst of the calamity, I wanted to give several shout outs covering the highlights:

1. Gratitude: Being the tech-savvy (aka…detail junkie) blogger that I am, I have several systems in place that tell me where my site visitors come from. More and more over the last several days those visitors have been coming directly from Technorati via their (new?) rating system called “Authority”.

Basically what happens is that whenever you search for a keyword at Technorati, you have the option of sorting the search results by the sites that have the highest authority first. Authority is not gained by people having added your blog as a favorite, but rather by a more accurate measure of quality – how many blogs have linked to your blog.

Apparently the Today is that Day blog has a lot of fans because for several phrases (not the least of which being law of attraction), this blog comes up near the top of the ratings.

There are only 2 words that cover this situation, and those words are Thank You! Of all of the things that I can personally control about the success of this blog, one thing that is 100% completely out of my control is links that I get from other sites. YOU are all responsible for this site’s popularity in that regard, and it would not be possible for me to express my gratitude in enough ways. Thank you all so very much!

2. Simply Successful Secrets Update: Today is Friday, May 11th, and I will be visiting the rest of the Simply Successful Secrets participants today who I have not already visited and left a comment on your site.

Once that is done, I will be spending the next several days compiling the HUGE list of success secrets into one master list and then posting that list as a new blog post next week.

My original plan was to post that master list on May 15th, but I just realized that I am “double booked” for that day due to the Doing it Differently blog carnival. I don’t want either one of those posts to have to share their 24 hours in the limelight, so I am going to push back the posting of the Simply Successful Secrets master list until May 16th.

However, I will be leaving that post up on the main page of this site for 2 full days instead of my customary 24 hours so that all of the participants can get maximum exposure from the master list of links to everyone’s site that will be included in that post.

In addition, I will be encouraging everyone to Digg/Stumble/Add to Del.icio.us the post itself so that everyone can help their fellow bloggers to get as much traffic as possible from that post and from their participation in the Simply Successful Secrets project.

3. Blogging to Fame: I am VERY excited to have been hanging around the right corners of the Internet so that I learned about the new Blogging to Fame project that was just launched a few days ago.

In a nutshell, the Blogging to Fame project is an end-user voting system that allows people to promote their favorite blogs in a contest that will award some prizes, but more importantly, it will get that blogger huge exposure as the contest continues over the next few months.

Unlike similar systems, the new Blogging to Fame contest is not awarding “category” awards, but is focusing rather on peer-voted success that allows the readership of any given blog to help their favorite blogger(s) to get more exposure.

Since the more people who read this blog, the more people who can be positively influenced by the posts here, as well as interaction with the high quality readership that this blog has, I do invite you to cast a vote for this site if you see value in what I write.

Am I asking for your vote for vote’s sake? NO. Please do not go over to the site and vote for Today is that Day because I asked you to. That does not demonstrate the value that you see in this site.

Blogging to Fame! However, if you do see actual value in the Today is that Day blog, and you want to vote for it, then in that case, please do vote by clicking here to go directly to my details page, or clicking here to go the live voting page where all of the recent participants are listed. Thanks in advance to all those who truly see value here and want to see this blog continue to be successful!

4. Life on Purpose: If you will recall last week, I made a post about the fact that I will be participating in a “Book Blog Tour” for a new book that is coming out which is authored by Dr. Brad Swift. The full title of the book is ‘Life on Purpose – Six Passages to an Inspired Life’.

My participation in that tour has been finalized and written in stone, and I am VERY excited to be taking part in the project! The publishing company has sent me a copy of the book which I have on my desk right now, and which I will start reading this weekend.

The Book Blog Tour itself kicks off on June 1, 2007, and I will be posting my review of the book on June 4th, 2007. As I said before, I get good vibes about this whole process, so please be sure to make a mental note to swing by and check out my review of the book on that day.

Okay, that’s it for now! Go forth and enjoy the rest of your day, and as always, feel free to leave your thoughts or your questions in the comments section below! 🙂

I found you just today through Gretchen Rubin’s site (where I frequently comment), and I’m so glad I did! It was immediately bookmarked. I love your site. I will be “digging gold nuggets” from it by looking through archives for a long time, I’m sure. Thank you so much for the insights and inspirations.

    Sharyn,

Gretchen has sent quite a bit of traffic over here today, and I am very glad to welcome her readers with open arms. All are welcome to read, comment, and share in the Today is that Day community, and I would like to personally welcome you!

I’m glad you’re here, Sharyn, and I will look forward to hearing more from you in the future! 🙂
