Personal Development Partners Relaunch!

By on August 28, 2007

Well, the project has been sitting on the back burner for quite awhile now, but I finally have everything in place that is needed in order to relaunch the Personal Development Partners interface!

For anyone who is not familiar with the Personal Development Partners project, it is an online community that allows people to meet up and interact with each other for the purpose of sharing knowledge and experiences so that all members can learn, grow, and accomplish their goals!

Personal Development Partners

The site was originally launched a few months ago using the PHPFox software interface, but within a few weeks it became apparent that PHPFox couldn’t handle all of the functionality and interaction that the members wanted to have with each other, so I took the site down while I looked for another solution.

I have since decided to use the VBulletin Community platform as a baseline, and will be building all of the Personal Development Partners functionality on top of that.

I have been procrastinating the actual development work, however, because I quickly realized that it was going to be a major time expenditure, and I did not want to take that much time away from blogging.

However, the reasons for building a community interface like Personal Development Partners is now stronger than ever, so I have decided to “put down my pen” for about a week, and devote all of my time to finishing the build out of the new interface.

Once completed, everyone will be able to access the site at https://www.personaldevelopmentpartners.com, and the relaunched version will have a ton of functionality that the original version did not.

In order to focus on the technical side of making the new community a very cool and very useful place to learn, share, and interact, I will not be doing any blogging for the rest of this week. I will, however, remain available via email, and I will manage and respond to any comments that come in on posts that are already up on the site.

This will only be a short absence, and I already have a ton of great content planned for this blog in the coming weeks and months, and all of it will be able to be discussed over at the message board portion of the new Personal Development Partners interface.

Your comments and questions about the PDP project are welcome and encouraged via email and/or in the comments section below!

In the meantime, here is a  hand-picked selection of great posts from the past that you can read while you are waiting for some new content to be posted, which will be early next week:

Alright! That’s funny, I was just wondering as I clicked my link to your site if you were still planning to bring back PDP.

I really enjoyed the original site, I’m sure I’ll like The new one even more.

    Priscilla,

I appreciate your interest, and your patience! The concept of the site is awesome, and I am so grateful that I finally have the time to bring it back for all of the people interested in using it.

Look for more info to be posted soon about the details of the new system! 🙂

Aaron, I’m glad it’s going to be relaunched. Have heard so much about other bloggers mentioning about it and it’ll be such a pity if it’s down because of some technical glitches.

    Cheers

    Ellesse,

I’m so grateful to hear that there is such an interest in the concept, and that people are looking forward to having access. It makes the times when I’m pulling my hair out over the technical difficulties oh so worth it! 🙂

    Thanks, Ellesse!

    Dear Aaron,

You took a wise decision and, as usual, a very generous one.

We’ll support you and wait as long as it’s needed. There’s a lot of material to re-read in this marvellous site. And re-reading is good… is excellent!

Good luck with yr work and don’t hesitate to ask for help if you think there is anything I can be of help with.

    Cheers!
    Patricia

Thank you so much for your support and understanding, Patricia – it is greatly appreciated!

I’ve got everything under control for the moment, and I also get to push myself to the max on my comfort level with technology. That is a growth opportunity, so it’s all good.

Assuming I don’t throw my computer out the window before I’m done, that is… 😉

    Mike,

I’ve had several people say something similar to that, and it truly does my heart good to hear it!

It is good to know what people are looking for solutions that I am offering. I’ll get it all up and running just as quick as I can so we can all get to it! 🙂

I never saw the original PDP, but this sounds like a great idea to help people come together and share knowledge. I look forward to seeing it when its ready. Good luck Aaron!

Thanks, Peter! And thanks to you, as well, Shauna!

It really is a cool concept, and the original site was a decent testing ground, but it became clear that something more robust was needed. I’m looking forward to rolling it out and getting everyone’s feedback on the new design! 🙂
