Personal Development Partners – You are NOT Alone!

By on June 19, 2007

A funny thing happened to me one day while I was surfing through a certain {not to be named} very popular website. I realized that it was almost a complete waste of time for anyone who was actually trying to accomplish something!

Yes, it was a popular site with millions of members, but it had also become a victim of its own popularity. The over-abundance of options given to the users combined with a serious lack of decent search functionality made it very time consuming to actually locate people who had similar interests to mine.

Now, I won't slander that website, simply because that isn't the way that we do things around the Today is that Day community. However, I will say that I have built a better solution, and I am proud to finally unveil an online networking site that is geared specifically towards people who are trying to improve their lives!

Personal Development Partners

What is it, and what's so cool about it?

Personal Development Partners is a free site where you can go to meet others who are making an honest effort to create and/or maintain a wonderful life for themselves.

I think we all know plenty of people who spend plenty of time complaining about how lame their lives are, and there are certainly lots of websites for those people to go hang out at.

Personal Development Partners is not for them! The site is for people who know that their lives can be wonderful, and it provides a medium for you to interact with other people who feel the same way – and are willing to take action in that regard!

Personal Development Partners is not just another social stopover on the Internet, but rather a place where you can easily find people to interact with in ways that will be beneficial to everyone involved!

I built the site specifically so that individuals would be able to say the following 2 things, and then easily search for others who said the same things:

"I am looking for people to help me with…"

"I am available to help people with…"

What types of things? Here is the official list, straight from the PDP front page:

  • Networking
  • Socializing
  • Goal Setting (and accomplishing!)
  • Sharing and Building Dreams
  • Starting New Businesses
  • Mastermind Groups
  • Joint Ventures
  • Weight Loss or Workout Partners/Groups
  • Social Networking partners (Digg/Stumbleupon, etc.)

In addition to being able to find, network, and mastermind with those types of people, I've made the actual finding part very simple. Almost every field of information that members fill out can be searched by using simple drop-down menus on the Browse page. Keyword search functionality is also available.

For example, you could look for and find someone who met the following criteria:

  • Primary goal: Financial Success
  • Primary self improvement system: Simpleology
  • They are looking for: Joint Venture Partners
  • They are available for: Email correspondence as well as Telephone meetings
  • They live in: A certain country, state, and even zip code, and you can also search by the name of their city.

The entire interface was built from the ground up by asking – and answering – this question:

"If I wanted to surround myself with people who had similar goals, desires, and interests as I do, where could I do that quickly and easily?"

I have answered that question for you, and after months of development time, it is finally ready for its trial run. So have at it!

Go visit Personal Development Partners right now and sign up – but don't stop there! Here is a chance for you to prove that you are willing to make a positive difference in the world!

As proud as I am of the ever growing readership of this blog, my voice is still only one in a sea of billions. I need your help in spreading the word about Personal Development Partners, and it is in your own best interest to do so.

You see, a few thousand members is just a drop in the bucket compared to the 6 billion people on this planet. If you want to get the most out of the site, then we need to get some butts in those seats! In that regard, you are both welcome and encouraged to spread the word far and wide by doing any and all of the following acts:

  • Tell everyone that you know about the website via word of mouth, or even dropping them an email.
  • Go to Digg, Stumbleupon, Reddit, and other social networking websites and submit this blog post. I would be ecstatic for this post to get so much traffic that we bring down the server (again!).
  • Put a post up on your own blog about this post and/or a link directly to the Personal Development Partners website, and ask your readers to do the same.
  • If you have a newsletter distribution list, tell them about it, too, and ask them to spread the word in their own circles of influence.

Personal Development Partners is not just another blog about personal development – it is an idea that has become an institution. Be a part of history and help to make it a success!

Also, just so you know, as of the posting of this message, the website is BRAND NEW. The groups are all still empty waiting for your valuable ideas on creating communities, the forums are silent and looking for your conversation, and the site Gallery is waiting anxiously for you to share your images of success, growth, and abundance.

It's all at the ground level, so get on over there and beat up on it! Tell me what you like and what you don't like. Tell me if anything is broken, or needs to be tweaked.

In these first few weeks, all of the initial members are the advance party that will help to mold the website into a powerhouse of success, growth, education, abundance, and camaraderie.

How many times in your life do you get a chance to do all that? ๐Ÿ™‚

Fantastic Idea. I’m positive this will be a central hub for those seeking help and those willing to give it.
I’ll make sure to post about it later today.

    A,

VERY much obliged for your help, as well as your positive feedback. And your term is wonderful, that is exactly what I want it to be – a central hub.

With everyone’s help, that’s exactly what we’ll make it! ๐Ÿ™‚

This personal development website is a GREAT idea! I am involved in a meditation course that is making such a positive difference in my life and the meditation technique it uses is so easy and effective! I am calmer and much more focused on who I really am amd what I’m really all about.

If we can use this forum to ask for help, could I ask someone for their thoughts about website development? I’m not a “nerd” and am not really sure how to do the autoresponder thing.

    Thanks!

    Cindy,

I put together some very baseline Groups and Forums over at PDP just to get the ball rolling, but the content creation is absolutely open to anyone who wants to post a topic that they would like to discuss!

In fact, I’ll go over there right now and add in a new topic or two in the groups and forums for people who are looking for advice from other members. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you so much, Shauna! It is a project that I’ve been trying to get off the ground for awhile, and (like I didn’t already know better) all it took was for me to finally sit down, make the intention to finish it by a certain date, and then make it happen.

I appreciate you signing up and I’m looking forward to you being a part of the community over there! I’ve got several “irons in the fire” in order to let more people know about it. It is my intention for it to be a strong, thriving community and I am glad that you are a part of it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Awesome! I see the friend request that you sent me, and I have already accepted it.

I am playing around with some options right now for PDP, including thinking about what is available for Forums, search functionality, etc. I’ve got some improvements in mind, and I will be posting what I come up with here on the blog, as well as sending a message out directly to all of the PDP members.

Keep an eye out for more info! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks. I predict that this is going to be huge.

I havent’t been able to access the website for several hours now. Any known problems?

Not that I am aware of, other than the fact that I took the forums offline while I am working on them. The rest of the site was working fine just now when I logged in.

You can look for a message via email about the forums and what is going on with that, though.
