Yes, I know it’s hard to believe, but 1 out of 12 pieces of the annual pie has already screamed past us in 2008. How are you doing on those New Year’s Resolutions?
If you’re like most people, the fire for success that you had on January 1st has now faded to a dull ember, and you need to start blowing on those embers, lest your passionate desires for happiness, health, and wealth will spend yet another year being nothing but pipe dreams.
Here’s a tip:
Don’t be like other people!
When you do what other people do, you’ll get what other people have gotten. Now, if you are going to do the things that happy and successful people do, then you’re good. Otherwise, you might want to rethink who your role models are.
On that note, here is a quick list of places to go, people to see, and things to do that can help you to reignite that passionate New Year’s flame, and allow you to remember that 2008 was going to be the year that was different than all rest.
If you don’t know exactly what it is that you want, but you just know that you want to be happy, then check out Alex Shalman’s Happiness Project. It’s a month-long study of how several successful and happy people have gotten to BE successful and happy. I’m one of those people (YAY for me!), and I could not give higher praise to Alex for what is an absolutely WONDERFUL project, complete with loads of fun, great prizes, and a chance to learn how it’s all done:
If you know what you want, but you’re just not sure how to get it, then stop procrastinating and join Personal Development Partners. Partners – you know; friends, business associates, mentors, people who want what you want and are willing to help you get it:

If you know that you want more money, but you can’t seem to figure out how to get it, I highly recommend James Arthur Ray as a guru worth listening to. I am going through his Million Dollar Mindset program right now, and it rocks. Here are some of James’ other success-related resources:

This couldn’t have come at a better time for me.
Like many, I set high and lofty new-year goals… Well, a month later, I’m still smoking, I still have trouble cleaning out my litter box, my budget is next-to-nothing (but has improved from less-than-nothing 😉 ), and procrastination is still a problem for me.
It’s time to re-think my goals and actually make plans. Thanks for the reminder that we need to keep up the motivation. 🙂
Adam,
I couldn’t be happier about providing the oft-needed swift kick in the butt that we all need from time to time!
p.s. – I procrastinate on the cat box, too! 😉
I am so bad at setting personal goals. It seems I never have the chance to reach them because my life is so cluttered with unexpected turns of events and it makes it hard to stay focused.
Hi, Kerri.
James Arthur Ray often talks about how attaining our goals is actually something that we do for the personal growth that it takes to attain the goals, and I believe that.
Yes, the goals themselves are wonderful. However, if your life is that chaotic that setting goals is a challenge for you, then maybe leveling things out and sticking to a path – regardless of what happens – is something that you can think about working towards?
Good with a reminder!
Being a follower (maybe not the best pupil but anyways…) of the GTD methodology the monthly review always is a good time to review propositions made to oneself. And even better is that you can revaluate them and maybe even scrap some of them if they now don’t make sense. I mean if they don’t make sense???
Eric,
A periodic review of where we are at with our goals is always a good idea. I reevaluate each day and each week, but then I also look back at the end of the month and see where I am at in relation to my goal for that year. It’s great for re-igniting the desire to get things done on your path to success!
